Leeds Trinity has ranked in the top 15 institutions in the UK* for three of the seven categories in the National Student Survey (NSS) 2023, including placing fifth nationally for assessment and feedback.

Scores in these categories were significantly above the Higher Education sector averages.

The NSS asks final year Higher Education students in the UK questions about a range of factors related to their academic experience.

It is the first time that franchise students have been included in Leeds Trinity’s NSS data, in addition to its students studying on campus in Horsforth, Leeds.

The 2023 results for all registered students at the institution also saw some strong subject performances, with a total of nine number one rankings across all subjects. In particular, Management Studies was ranked first out of 78 institutions for four of the seven NSS question categories, including ‘teaching on my course’.

Professor Charles Egbu, Vice-Chancellor at Leeds Trinity University, said: “It is encouraging to see that our personal and inclusive approach continues to make a real difference for our students.

“As we look forward, we will use the feedback from this survey to further enhance the student experience at Leeds Trinity and our franchise partners, as we continue to support our students to realise their potential in our professional and supportive career-led learning environment.

“I would like to thank our students for sharing their feedback, and my colleagues for their continued dedication and efforts.”

The NSS is managed by the Office for Students (OfS) and gathers students’ opinions on the quality of their courses which helps to: inform prospective students’ choices; provide data that supports universities and colleges to improve the student experience; and support public accountability.

Following a review of the NSS, the survey questions and response scales for the 2023 survey have changed, meaning it is not valid to compare question level responses from NSS 2023 with those from previous years.

Leeds Trinity University is continuing to invest in the student experience through its Strategic Plan 2021-26, built around the four Strategic Pillars of ‘Education and Experience’, ‘People and Sustainability’, ‘Research, Impact and Innovation’, and ‘Careers and Enterprise’. This is supported by the two key themes of Digital Futures and the Leeds City Region.

*NSS rankings based on institutions included in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide, of which 131 HE Institutions have published results in 2023. The results are inclusive of all registered students (on-campus students taught at Leeds Trinity in Horsforth, Leeds, and those taught at franchise partners of the University). The results (%) used in this analysis are rounded to whole numbers in line with common practice across the sector and some league tables.
