Leeds Trinity Connections Mentoring Programme

At Leeds Trinity University we are committed to enhancing the employability of our graduates, particularly by engaging mentors who can share their professional expertise with our students who come from a range of diverse and often underrepresented backgrounds.

Leeds Trinity Connections is a mentoring initiative that harnesses the goodwill and experience of our employer partners and alumni to support our students’ professional development. By partnering with us, mentors have the opportunity to make a direct and lasting impact on students’ confidence and career prospects as they transition into graduate employment.

Leeds Trinity Connections: Tailored Schemes

To provide tailored support, the mentoring programme will operate with
a number of schemes:

Leeds Trinity Connections: Business, Tech and Finance

Students on this scheme will typically be interested in careers that are aligned to a wide range of roles from management, accountancy, finance, business, computing and tech. A mentor on this scheme may support students with a range of industry and specialist sector insights whilst supporting them on their journey to post graduate career.

Leeds Trinity Connections: Creative and Media

Students on this scheme are likely to be interested in pursuing careers related to: Journalism, Photography, Digital Marketing, Film and TV and English. Students may be looking to gain sector insights, learn about the different routes available which may include agency and freelance working.

Leeds Trinity Connections: Education

Students within this scheme are likely to be interested in careers within a school or community education setting. Leeds Trinity has a highly regarded reputation of producing excellent educators and this scheme will enhance our students knowledge by giving them access to mentors who have additional knowledge and practical expertise to drawn on, both from in and out of the classroom.

Leeds Trinity Connections: Health and Wellbeing

Students on this scheme will be interested in careers across a range of sectors aligned to sport, health, or wellbeing. Health and Wellbeing can be a complex sector to navigate because of the levels of experience, qualifications and, in some aspects, accreditations necessary for students to achieve their career ambitions. Mentors on this programme can expect to support students to learn more about the routes available to them and the day-to-day experiences of working in their chosen sector.

Leeds Trinity Connections: Community, Legal and Social Justice

Students on this scheme will have a range of interests that may span from careers that relate to charity and third sectors, to those aspiring to become commercial legal professionals and those passionate about justice and the justice system.

How the Leeds Trinity Connections Mentoring Programme works

  • Students and mentors will register their interest.
  • Students and mentors will complete an application form which will support the matching process.
  • Students will be assigned a mentor based on their career aims and objectives.
  • Students will then be supported to make first contact with their mentor via email.
  • Mentors and students will agree on a contract about how the programme will work for them.
  • Leeds Trinity Connections involves regular meetings; both parties should agree on the duration and preferred method for facilitating the sessions. We encourage the mentoring relationship to continue even after the scheme has been completed.
