Why PR matters - 2022.

Some believe that working with a big budget is essential in-order to garner great coverage when it comes to PR. We don’t think so! Hear how some successful media campaigns have grown organically and from smaller scale spends. Strategise how you can develop relevant media contacts and influencers, and gain insider knowledge into why PR is a pivotal part of any brand’s success.

Biography: Leigh Purves

PR, journalist and broadcaster Leigh Purves has more than 24 years’ experience, spanning across the media industry with a solid career in radio and television, presenting across mainstream commercial airwaves as well as the BBC. Leigh has also worked extensively in the print and digital world, working both as a high-profile columnist and news editor in addition to leading national PR and media campaigns for B&Q and Thomas Cook through to national coffee chains and independent hospitality brands.

Kick-starting her career at Metro Radio in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne as a News Broadcaster before evolving to host her own radio show, Leigh then worked for Global Radio where she presented various radio shows both networked nationally and regionally, alongside being the ‘voice’ for the station before moving to London and enjoying life working for Capital Radio.

Leigh’s professional career in London led her to work for a plethora of radio stations hosting programmes and news bulletins, then landing high-profile positions at Sky News, Good Morning Britain, BBC News and a variety of Channel 5 TV programmes including fronting BBC TV programme, 60 Second News. This was in addition to working as a leading newspaper columnist and reporter.

Being head-hunted by international PR & communications agency Good Relations, Leigh led a team of PR directors and managers and scooped various industry awards during this time.
