The Dean’s Awards
The Dean’s Awards are designed to recognise the academic performance within first and second years of programmes and motivate students to achieve high degrees in their third year. They are becoming more commonplace within UK universities and increasingly being acknowledged by employers; recipients can add their award to their CVs to demonstrate achievement.
The award categories are Academic Excellence and Most Improved, based on the below criteria to identify the top performing students within programmes, based entirely on a marks profile.
- Academic Excellence
- Student year average has to be over 70% to qualify
- A minimum of three modules in the student year profile have to be awarded marks at over 70%
- All modules have to be passed at the first attempt
- No academic misconduct issues recorded in the academic year
- Most Improved
Students whose average mark has increased by 5% or greater compared to the previous year.
The attainment of prizes is recorded on graduate transcripts.
