Leeds Trinity Creative Writing students have published a creative writing anthology dedicated to all those who have lost a loved one to Coronavirus, and in recognition of the work carried out by health care staff and key workers during the pandemic.

The anthology, titled All is Flux, includes poetry and prose from students and teaching staff on the University’s MA in Creative Writing, as well as alumni and other contributors connected to Leeds Trinity. It is edited by students Mathias Gerlach, Jennifer Rushworth and Jonathan Young, and award-winning poet and Leeds Trinity Principal Lecturer Professor Oz Hardwick.

All is Flux is the seventh in the series of Leeds Trinity anthologies published under the Wordspace Open Mic imprint with independent publisher Indigo Dreams. This latest anthology focuses on the theme of change and transformation in both mythical and mundane settings. Works in the collections also reflect on the unprecedented times people have been living in due to the Coronavirus pandemic.

Jonathan Young, MA Creative Writing student and Co-Editor, said: "In 2020, we coined the phrase 'the new normal' in response to COVID-19 and the changes it brought to our lives. Before that, we had chosen 'change and transformation' as our theme for this year's anthology – what an apt choice. This collection is for those who strive to make the 'new normal' better than the 'old before'."

Professor Oz Hardwick said: “All is Flux is an anthology which addresses changes and transformations, from the mythical to the mundane – with a little bit of the macabre and messy. From the political to the personal, we’re living in a time in which, arguably, change is the only constant, and while All is Flux is not a point-by-point inventory of contemporary concerns – far from it – it is infused with a spirit of uncertainty and instability which is pure 2020.”

He added: “Urban rewilding, Trump’s Tweets, Brexit, Covid-19, serial killers, turning into a bird, and an earthquake in a Leeds beer garden are just a few of the subjects in this intriguing anthology of poetry and prose.”

All is Flux is available to buy for £10.75 from Indigo Dreams Publishing.
