Natalie Litchfield, a Primary Education: Later Years (Age 5-11) graduate, has secured her “dream” job after successfully completing her degree at Leeds Trinity University.

.

Starting in September, Natalie will start work as a full-time Year 3 teacher at the Leeds-based New Bewerley Community School, where she will fulfil her life-long ambition of becoming an educator.

Inspired by her parents, who both work as teachers in high schools in Spain where Natalie grew up and was educated, she has always wanted to follow in their footsteps having regularly witnessed the impact a teacher can have on a child’s life. Her time working as a sports coach for young people and as a nanny has only deepened her passion and determination to achieve her goal.

She completed a college course in Childcare, Learning, and Development before joining Leeds Trinity in 2020, where she has continued to demonstrate a clear desire to learn and improve in all of her assignments and professional placements. Natalie graduates today with a 2.1 and feels well prepared to grasp her exciting career opportunity with both hands thanks to the skills and experience she has developed during her time at the University.

Natalie said: “I am so pleased and beyond proud to have been appointed as a full-time teacher in my dream school, I can’t wait to get started.

“The Primary education degree at Leeds Trinity has provided me with the subject knowledge to carry through to my teaching whilst also providing fantastic opportunities for high-quality professional teaching placements in a range of schools both locally and internationally.

“If I could go back to February 2019 and select my first-choice university again, I would still definitely choose Leeds Trinity. My university experience, and the role I have now secured, would not have been possible without the support and guidance from the staff at the University, as well as my friends and family. I would like to take this opportunity to thank them for everything they have done for me during my time at university.”

Anna Park, Senior Lecturer in Primary Education at Leeds Trinity, said: “Natalie has thrown herself into all aspects of life at Leeds Trinity University and made the most of her time with us. She is dedicated to her success and has worked hard to achieve her well-deserved degree. She is engaged and questioning and positive in her relationships with staff and has used these qualities well in her role as student representative. I’m really pleased to see Natalie graduate today and wish her all the best in the job she will be starting in September.”
